Application Process and General Information

 Processing times for endorsement letter applications are approximately 60 days from the date of payment.

Important Notice: Employer fees are illegal. Employers and employment agencies cannot charge employees fees for a job or employment offer. Call the Alberta government information line at 310-0000 and ask for Employment Standards or the Temporary Foreign Worker Advisory Office if you have any questions or concerns to report.

The Town of Edson strives to address local labour gaps by endorsing employers and job seekers.

Next Steps for Eligible Candidates

Candidates must receive a legitimate and eligible full-time job offer from an employer based within the Town of Edson.  After the candidate has lived and worked in the Town of Edson for a minimum of 6 months, the Edson employer may then apply to request a letter of endorsement for the candidate from the Town of Edson.

The Town of Edson can only review up to a maximum of 20 applications per month for letters of endorsement. Letters of endorsement are a critical step in advancing through the Provincial Rural Renewal Stream process. All steps of the program after the issuance of an endorsement letter continues with the Provincial and Federal governments. See the AAIP website for next steps.

After the Letter of Endorsement

Upon receiving an Endorsement Letter from the Town of Edson, Candidates must submit their application through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program- Rural Renewal Stream Portal to receive a 204C letter from the Government of Alberta.

  • At this point, any questions about the application process or the application itself must be made to the Government of Alberta.

Note: The Government of Alberta collects a non-refundable fee for this application process.

The application will be reviewed, and the candidate will be notified by the Government of Alberta if they are eligible for provincial nomination.

  • While the Government of Alberta assesses your application, you must intend to and be able to work, reside, and settle in Edson.

If successful, you will receive a 204C letter from the Government of Alberta. You must then make application to the Government of Canada via Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.

  • At this point any questions about the application process or the application itself must be made to the Government of Canada.

    The Town of Edson will not be able to provide any information past the letters of endorsement stage.
